John McCrae PS hosting 16th annual Halloween Dance-a-thon

October 23, 2020

GUELPH, Ontario – The John McCrae PS School Council is holding their 16th annual Halloween Dance-a-thon at the school this year on October 29.

Like many things, the dance-a-thon this year will look a little different and will have many guidelines in place to make sure that students and staff can participate in a safe manner.

Students are encouraged to wear their Halloween costume or dress in Black and Orange for the dance. The goal is that students can participate in the dance on a staggered schedule outside, but will be moved indoors with their cohort if the weather does not allow for an outside dance.

Re-organizing a safe dance-a-thon is not the only way that John McCrae PS has been promoting school spirit this year. Classes have been earning pyjama days this year when the meet their class goals. Many classes have continued to use music and visual arts to keep spirits up and this has resulted in many creative and inspiring days.

According to John McCrae principal Walter Vander Vaart, trying to keep the sense of belonging strong in the community and to promote mental health is at the top of the agenda for staff.
