Join us on October 3 for Walk to School and Walk at School Day

October 1, 2018

GUELPH, On – The Upper Grand District School Board is celebrating Walk to School Day and Walk at School Day on Wednesday October 3.

Walk to School Day is celebrated worldwide. On Walk to School Day students from more than 40 countries will walk, bike or wheel to and from school. There are many benefits to walking or wheeling to school including healthier students, less air pollution and safer school zones.

When the route to school is safe for walking or wheeling, the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Active and Safe Routes to School (ASRTS) committee encourages students to walk, bike or wheel to and from school.

This year to coincide with Walk to School Week, ASRTS is also promoting a Walk at School week which is geared to those students who ride a bus to school.  For schools with bused students, encouraging students to take a walk around the school yard at lunch or before bell time is another way that students can participate in this global event.

Students and families are encouraged to participate in events that are happening at schools throughout the UGDSB!
