Letter from the Chair of the UGDSB: Welcome back to school!

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all Upper Grand students and families. If you are new to our school board, thank you for choosing this board for your child. 

I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all UGDSB employees. For those who were able to take a break for a bit this summer, I hope you had time to connect with friends and family. Thank you to the staff who worked hard throughout the summer to get our system ready for the 2022-23 school year. 

There is an excitement surrounding this year. We know we will continue to face change, as we have over the past several years, but with this change there is also a return to a more regular school year, filled with extracurriculars, in-person events, and so much more. 

There will also be change this year around the Board Room table, with the upcoming School Board Trustee elections happening on October 24. 

While change can be unsettling, I truly believe many of the changes we will see this year will be exciting. Staff are working hard to develop action plans to operationalize the new Multi-Year Plan, which outlines the school board’s purpose, vision and key priorities. 

I hope this new school year and the start of a new season fills you all with optimism and possibility.
