Letter from the Director of Education to UGDSB students, families and staff

June 25, 2021

Dear UGDSB students, families and staff,

I would like to extend my gratitude to Upper Grand students, families and staff for their dedication to education, community and leadership throughout this school year.

I would like to thank students for their hard work throughout all the challenges, for sharing their voice and being leaders in their schools. I would also like to thank parents/guardians and families for their continued support of their children, and staff for their ability to innovate and adapt, and their dedication to students.

One year ago, it would have been almost impossible to imagine the changes that have taken place. Our students, families and staff have shown incredible determination in meeting each new challenge and change, which has in turn allowed student learning to continue this year.

Throughout all the ups and downs, the well-being of students and staff was at the forefront of the planning and decisions made throughout the year – our school board will continue to have this as our priority as we move forward.

While there are still many unknowns about what next school year will look like, please know that our staff are working hard to ensure a safe and successful return to learning in September.

I wish all of you a safe and healthy summer.

Martha Rogers
Director of Education
