Letter from the Director: Welcome to the 2022-23 school year

August 29, 2022

Peter Sovran 1Dear UGDSB staff, students and families,

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year!

The past few years have been challenging and unsettling. I hope that everyone had a chance this summer to disconnect, recharge and perhaps experience something new or something you have not been able to do for some time.

As we head back to class, I am excited to begin working alongside the wonderful staff of the Upper Grand in service of students and families that put their trust in us.

One of the things I am particularly excited about this fall is the board’s new Multi-Year Plan that provides us with a unifying purpose, an ambitious vision and sets the direction for our actions over the next four years.

Our Purpose: To inspire a love of learning and develop engaged, globally literate citizens.

Our Vision: To be recognized as leaders in creating unparalleled, agile, and inclusive learning experiences for all.

Our Key Pillars:

I look forward to working together with you this school year as we continue to re-engage, re-fresh and re-imagine UGDSB and take the necessary steps toward realizing this vision!

Peter Sovran
Director of Education
