MAPS students have surprise encounter in Ottawa
June 26, 2017
ORANGEVILLE, Ontario – Students from Mono-Amaranth Public School had a memorable meeting on a recent class trip to Ottawa.
MAPS students were in the nation’s capital for their grade 8 trip, when they decided to book a morning tour of the Parliament Buildings. When they arrived at Parliament Hills, they were asked by security to wait a few moments before entering the building.
A few seconds later, three large black SUVs pulled up near where the students were waiting, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau emerged from one of the vehicles.
Noticing a quick wave from one of the teachers, the Prime Minister came over to the group, shook some hands and gathered everyone for a photo, saying “Come on kids, let’s get a picture!”
Staff say the fast but friendly encounter has made the grade 8 trip to Ottawa a memorable one for all the students involved.
