June 9, 2021

ORANGEVILLE, Ontario – A grade 6 student from Montgomery Village Public School was recently announced as a winner in the Meaning of Home National Writing Contest.

The Meaning of Home contest allows for students in grade 4-6 from across Canada to submit a poem or essay that explains what home means to them. Each entry results in a $10 donation to a local Habitat for Humanity build and the winner in each grade category gets to direct $30,000 toward a local Habitat project.

Kara from Montgomery Village PS submitted her poem What Home Means to Me to the contest and was announced as the grand prize winner in the grade 6 category. Her grant will go to a Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin.
