Ontarians invited to provide input into provincial review of assessment and reporting practices

November 22, 2017

GUELPH, Ontario – The Government of Ontario is inviting members of the public to provide input as they conduct a review of assessment and reporting practices in the province.

Earlier this fall, Premier Wynne and Minister of Education Mitzie Hunter announced an independent review of Ontario’s assessment and reporting practices to make sure they are culturally relevant, measure a wider range of learning and better reflect student well-being and equity.

The scope of the review includes classroom assessments, large-scale provincial assessments including Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) assessments, and Ontario’s participation in pan-Canadian and international assessment programs.

All Ontarians are invited to participate and provide feedback via an online survey, attending an online webcast, submitting a written response, tweeting using the Twitter hashtag #OntEdAssessment, or attending an in-person public engagement meeting.
