The goal of the event was to help students realize the importance of making health and wellness part of their daily lives now, while they transition to secondary school and beyond.

The event featured several guest speakers including students and staff from Guelph CVI and College Heights SS, presenters from community partners and UGDSB staff.

Topics included gambling and gaming, stress management, putting your best self forward, virtual reality, drama, cooking, karate, personal safety scenarios, art and guitar.

Two examples of the many workshops offered throughout the day included one about maintaining positive mental health in high school and potential dangers from gaming.

GCVI students Teasha and Anika were on hand to talk to Taylor Evans PS students about mental health and help them prepare for the ups and downs that students face in high school.

Katie Spears from the Guelph YMCA spoke to students about screen time and knowing the difference between gaming and gambling.

Students were engaged throughout the day and were able to write down a reflection after each workshop.
