Ponsonby PS holds 45th annual community luncheon

December 1, 2022

On Wednesday Nov. 30, 2022, Ponsonby Public School held its annual community luncheon. This is the 45th year of the school tradition, now with a new name – the Panther Feast.

At the feast, all students came together in community to share a meal with special guests Trustee and Chair of the Board Ralf Mesenbrink, Director of Education Peter Sovran, bus drivers and lunch supervisors.

School Council members Krista Chappel-Merchant and Maryel Lane organized the day and facilitated the volunteers who supported the sharing of this wonderful meal.

The College Heights Secondary School kitchen and The Gorge restaurant catered the lunch, which included rice, turkey, samosa, vegetables, with cookies for dessert.

The school gym was decorated by the Grade 2 students with a display of holidays celebrated around the world and by the junior students who came up with a list of words about how they want our school to feel such as positive, caring, and inclusive.

The event ended with teaching the students the traditional school song, which one of the school’s teachers sang when she was a student here at Ponsonby PS herself.
