Ross R MacKay PS shares messages of kindness during Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week
November 20, 2020
HILLBURGH, Ontario – Students and staff at Ross R MacKay Public School were busy this week creating messages of kindness to share in a mosaic at the end of Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week.
As part of this mosaic, each student and staff member at the school received a plate to either draw a picture on or share a message of kindness. Once all the plates were complete, the 90 drawings and messages were assembled into a mosaic in the school hall.
According to Lindsey Tremblay, principal of the school, “At Ross R. MacKay, we know that we all have a role to play in making our school a safe and welcoming place to be. We are a small, close-knit school. [This year,] we’ve been actively seeking ways for [students and staff] to feel connected as a school community, even when we must stay apart. Having everyone contribute to the mosaic is a great visual reminder that we’re all still connected.”
Messages in the mosaic include, “Don’t let anyone ever dull your sparkle” and “Be a buddy not a bully.”
What did you do at school this week to help put a stop to bullying?
