Students from Erin DHS and Westside SS to represent the UGDSB at Skills Ontario in Photography

Amazing talent was on display this week at this year’s UGDSB Regional Skills Photography contest.

Brydie C. from Erin District High School and Liam G. from Westside Secondary School won 1^st and 2^nd in the regional contest. This year, 8 students competed, representing Guelph CVI, Centre Wellington DHS, Erin DHS and Westside SS.

The students had one school day to take still life, portraits and school life photographs. They also had to get creative and take a couple of photos of a single sheet of paper. Students were allowed to use a variety of lenses but no external lighting. Half of the photos were edited and the other half were submitted without edits.

Two local professional photographers, Jessica West and Natalie Bedard, judged the images and were very impressed by the photos taken by the students. Brydie and Liam will now represent the UGDSB at the Skills Ontario Competition held in Toronto on May 2, 2023.
