UGDSB Board Meeting Highlights for October 2022

GUELPH, Ontario – The October meeting of the Upper Grand District School Board was held on October 18, 2022. The following provides highlights from the meeting.

Director’s Annual Report

Trustees received the Director’s Annual Report 2021-22, which is posted on the UGDSB website. The 2021-22 report includes a message from the Director of Education, Peter Sovran, and information about the four priorities of the UGDSB’s 2021-22 Strategic Plan: achieve excellence, promote well-being, ensure equity of access and opportunity, and enhance public confidence. The requirement for school boards to review the board’s multi-year plan with the Director of Education is stipulated in the Ontario Education Act, Part VI, “Boards” Duties and Powers.

Director’s Performance Appraisal

The Board of Trustees congratulated UGDSB Director of Education, Peter Sovran, on his leadership during the 2021-22 school year.

“Earlier this evening the Board [of Trustees] approved Director Sovran’s performance appraisal and on behalf of the board I would like to publicly acknowledge and congratulate him on a successful first year of leadership,” said UGDSB Chair Linda Busuttil

“It has been a difficult year with many transitions and challenges.  The Board is looking forward to the leadership that Director Sovran will bring to the Upper Grand DSB system and are we excited to see what innovative ideas that he and the Executive [Committee] will bring to support and elevate the implementation of our UGDSB’s new Strategic Plan.”
