UGDSB Cooperative Education Employer of the Week (May 2, 2022)

Each week, the Upper Grand District School Board highlights a different employer or organization in our community that supports Upper Grand students through cooperative education.

Bill Haynes, of Haynes Welding, has been in the industry for 30 years. Bill and his employees provide welding, fabricating and automotive services in the Shelburne area.

Bill has been a co-op employer for many years,  training UGDSB students in the industry and giving them an opportunity to experience the world of work beyond high school. The students are given the opportunity to help around the shop, cutting and cleaning metal, completing small welds and bending metal. They can also progress to welding aluminum and using the lathe and mill. Students who work with Bill acquire a wide variety of skills that will help them enter into manufacturing or automotive occupations in the future.

UGDSB is fortunate to have Haynes Welding as a long-standing employer, and we look forward to working with Bill for many more years to come.
