UGDSB schools achieve Ophea’s Healthy Schools Certification

GUELPH, Ontario – Ophea (Ontario Physical and Health Education Association) has announced the schools that participated in and received Ophea’s Healthy Schools Certification for 2018-2019 and out of the 274 schools in Ontario to participate, 18 schools belonged to the Upper Grand DSB.
Since 1921, Ophea has had the goal that all children and youth value and enjoy the lifelong benefits of healthy and active living. According to their website, Ophea “champions healthy, active living in schools and communities through quality programs and services, partnerships and advocacy.”
Ophea’s Healthy Schools Certification “recognizes and celebrates school communities for promoting and enhancing the health and well-being of students, school staff, and the broader community.”
Each of the Ontario schools that achieved certification this year completed the 6-Step Healthy Schools Process and gained enough points to be certified.
