UGDSB staff preparing for second annual United Way fundraiser

October 12, 2021

The Upper Grand School District will be participating in the United Way fundraiser for another year.

Last year’s fundraiser changed to have only digital participation and despite the restrictions and changes due to COVID-19, UGDSB staff managed to raise over $8,000 for the United Way campaign and that was without the support of special events happening in schools. The UGDSB also managed to raise more money than the last two years despite being completely virtual.

This year, the UGDSB plans to have our United Way fundraiser campaign be both virtual and in-person. This year’s campaign will also be split over the course of the school year. The first half will be throughout the first term and will mostly focus on fundraising among board staff. The second half will be throughout the second term and will mostly focus on fundraising among schools in the UGDSB.

For over 75 years, the United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin has worked to meet the needs of the UGDSB community. United Way is directed by a board of volunteers, managed by committed staff and supported by thousands of donors. Donations to the United Way go to support many programs in our communities.

Some of the organizations that the United Way supports include Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Canadian Mental Health Association, Family and Children’s Services, Women in Crisis, local food banks and more.
