UGDSB student embraces the giving spirit

GUELPH, ON – Last week and this week, Mitchell Woods Public School has been hosting their annual holiday food drive for The West Willow Village Community Development Co-operative.
After the first week of the food drive, one student noticed that donations were lower than normal and decided he wanted to do more for his community and immediately sprung to action.
After speaking with his family about why donations could be lower this year, grade 4 student Zack decided to walk around his neighbourhood and talk to his neighbours and see if they had anything to donate. Zack knocked on every door and introduced himself. He explained he was a student at Mitchell Woods PS, shared a bit of information about the food drive and why he was going door to door.
On the first day, Zack collected 84 items from around his neighbourhood and by the end of the weekend, he had collected another 48 items.
