UGDSB students put their skills to the test at Provincial Cardboard Boat races

March 9, 2018

WATERLOO, Ontario – On March 7 and 8, hundreds of Ontario elementary students headed to Waterloo for the Skills Ontario Provincial Cardboard Boat Competition.

This year, 128 students across 32 teams attended. Teams at the event were from schools all over Ontario. The Provincial Cardboard Boat Competition took place at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Centre.

The Upper Grand District School Board had five schools participating in the competition: Aberfoyle PS, Primrose ES, Taylor Evans PS, William C. Winegard PS and Willow Road PS.

According to Aberfoyle PS teacher, Graham Fiddes, “The atmosphere [at the race] throughout the day was positive, as always in these events. It was great to see teams working well among and between groups. The competition was friendly. Participants were learning a great deal while having fun and acknowledging each other’s success.”

Congratulations to all the UGDSB students that participated in the Provincial Cardboard Boat Competition.
