UGDSB students take part in summer welding camp

July 16, 2018

GUELPH, Ontario – A number of Upper Grand District School Board students spent a week of their summer break learning about the skilled trades and welding.

Last week, 20 students who are going into grades 7, 8 and 9 in the fall took part in a welding camp at Orangeville District Secondary School.

The camp was sponsored by CWB Welding Foundation as part of their mandate of “building the future of welding in Canada.”

The camp was led by UGDSB teachers Richard Alexander (ODSS manufacturing) and Aaron Myers (CHSS manufacturing), who taught about the basics of welding and the importance of skilled trades. Students also had fun making a variety of small projects to take home.

UGDSB students participate in a welding camp held at ODSS in July 2018.
