Westside SS musical roadshow visits local retirement residences

June 7, 2019

ORANGEVILLE, Ontario – Students at Westside Secondary School are spreading music and joy throughout their community.

Westside’s grade 12 Instrumental Music class has spent the last four years together and have grown to become quite the family.

At Westside, students are taught that giving back is an integral part of belonging to a community.  This year, the music class tried something new – the ‘Senior Seniors Roadshow.’

The grade 12 music students put together an impressive 45-minute set of oldies but goodies for seniors in retirement residences in Orangeville.

On Wed. June 5, they performed at the Lord Dufferin Centre Retirement Residence, Avalon Retirement Lodge and Montgomery Village Retirement Residence.

The residents were singing, clapping and joined the band’s percussion section with shakers and tambourines. School staff said it was a privilege to share their music and bring such joy to members of the community.

On June 5, 2019, grade 12 music students from Westside SS performed at a number of local retirement residences.
