January 3, 2018

MOUNT FOREST, Ontario – The 16th annual Warm Winter Wishes fundraiser at Wellington Heights Secondary School was a huge success for the grade 12 Business Leadership class.

The Warm Winter Wishes project ran for four weeks prior to the winter break at the school. Students were completely involved in running the program, from brainstorming fundraising activities, marketing, sales, finance and more.

This year, the group raised money to support the needs of 47 families in the community, which included 114 children.

With amazing school participation, support from the community and local businesses, and money raised during 24 fundraising activities, the Warm Winter Wishes project raised $35,683.65.

The group purchased personalized gift items, as well as over $17,000 worth of grocery and pharmacy gift cards for stores found in the community.

Fundraising activities included a raffle at the school. Raffle prizes included a tablet, a signed Winnipeg Jets jersey and a pair of gold seat tickets to a Toronto Maple Leafs game.

The generosity of the community and school spirit could be seen at the school before the break as students displayed gifts and donations before they were distributed.
