Willow Road PS welcomes Trees for Guelph to the school
April 23, 2018
GUELPH, Ontario – Willow Road Public School welcomed Trees for Guelph for a tree-planting event at the school this week.
Trees for Guelph is a local not-for-profit organization that works “to enhance Guelph’s environment through tree planting and related projects, education and community leadership.” The organization was founded in 1990 and has planted more than 140,000 trees in the City of Guelph.
On April 23, Willow Road PS was the latest site for Trees for Guelph to plant some trees and shrubs. Students, staff, Upper Grand DSB Chair of the Board Linda Busuttil and Guelph City Counsellor Cathy Downer, all came together to plant the first tree of the day in the school’s yard.
Students were thrilled to get their hands dirty and help plant some trees and wild flowers on the school grounds. Students got the chance to name some of the trees, names included Sweet Franny and Sour Franny.
Thank you to Trees for Guelph and everyone that participated in the planting at the school.
