Purchasing Department Mission Statement
The Purchasing Department is responsible for the cost effective procurement of goods and/or services, in a timely fashion and at an acceptable level of quality to support the activities of the Board. Our goal is to achieve best value for money while maintaining a high level of customer service.
We adhere to all procurement laws, regulations, rules, acts including the Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive, and conduct our activities following a fair, open and transparent procurement process.
The Role of the Purchasing Department
The role of the Purchasing Department is to:
- Deliver a high level of customer service and support to the Board
- Obtain maximum value through negotiation and application of other purchasing strategies
- Ensure goods and services are purchased through a process that is open, fair and transparent
- Facilitate and manage the competitive bid process
- Administer and manage contracts
- Participate in cooperative and consortium purchasing initiatives
- Mitigate Risk
- Develop and manage vendor relationships
- Strategically source products and services
- Consider life-cycle activities from acquisition to end-of-use
- Maintain the highest professional, ethical and moral business practices
- Demonstrate environmental stewardship and consider the environmental impact of all purchase recommendations
