North Dufferin Boundary Review and French Immersion (FI) Feasibility Study

The North Dufferin Boundary Review and French Immersion (FI) Feasibility Study ran from August to November 2016. The purpose of the review was to resolve immediate overcrowding concerns at Princess Elizabeth PS and Mono-Amaranth PS and confirm the viability of an FI program in North Dufferin. An FI Feasibility Study was completed and at the board meeting on October 25, 2016, trustees approved the start of FI in North Dufferin effective September 2017.
At the Board meeting on November 22, 2016, trustees approved the recommendations of the North Dufferin Boundary Review and French Immersion (FI) Feasibility Study, including Option 1 – Modified Implementation Plan.
Option 1 – Modified Implementation involves the establishment of an FI program at Centennial Hylands ES, beginning September 2017. The modified plan also involves the reassignment of a number of Regular Track students to Primrose ES. The new boundaries for Centennial Hylands ES, Primrose PS, Mono-Amaranth PS and Princess Elizabeth PS are effective September 2017. See below for implementation details.

Implementation
Regular Track
- JK-3 RT students within the new Primrose ES JK-8 RT boundary are reassigned to Primrose ES, effective September 2017
- Grade 4-8 RT students are grandparented at Centennial Hylands ES or may attend Primrose with ES with younger siblings
French Immersion
- JK-5 FI students within the new Centennial Hylands ES JK-8 FI boundary are reassigned to Centennial Hylands ES, effective September 2017
- Grade 6-8 FI students are grandparented at Mono-Amaranth PS
