Brant Monday Communication – Sept 28, 2020

Posted September 28, 2020

Dear Brant Ave families,

We have a very busy week planned here at Brant Avenue. On Wednesday, September 30 we are observing both Rowan’s Law Day and Orange Shirt Day (click on links for details).  We are encouraging all students to wear orange shirts on Wednesday. We will be sharing information about  Rowan’s Law and Orange Shirt Day with students in school during the course of the week. Our Terry Fox Walk will not feature fundraising at school this year. We are encouraging those who are able to donate directly to the Terry Fox Foundation (see link below).

#1 Virtual Brant School Council Meeting: We would like to WELCOME all parents and guardians to our 1st School Council meeting of 2020/2021, via Zoom. The date is Tuesday, September 29th at 6:30 pm. This will be a formal meeting where elections will occur for Chair, Secretary and Finance. If you are interested in any of these positions and School Council in general, please join us. We will have lots to discuss, but we will try and keep it as short as possible.

#2 Parents currently may not enter the school.

Due to Covid-19 parents and visitors are not permitted to enter school. Please wait outside and call the school at 519-824-2671 and press 0 to talk to the office. Please make arrangements in advance when possible to pick students up early.

#3 Parent Information: Symptomatic Student Information . What to do if your child has at least one symptom of Covid 19. The first 2 pages were sent home (on yellow paper) last week. This is general information for what to do following a screening that results in symptom(s) for a child.

#4 Masks, timing and social distancing on the tarmac: To help with physical distancing protocols before and after school, we are asking that all students and parents/guardians please wear a mask when they enter the school grounds (tarmac area at the back of the school). We also encourage students to not arrive on the school grounds before 8:40 am to help avoid unorganized large groupings. Parents/guardians we also need your help to please keep reminding your children about the importance of physical distancing. Now that we are at full student attendance we will have many people in this area and this will help protect everyone.

If you are picking up students in Grade 1 – Grade 6 after school, please wait, physically distanced, beside the portable until the bell rings at 3:15.

#5 Absent or Late? If you know that your child(ren) will be absent or late please call the school 519-824-2671. You can leave a message 24 hours a day. If you leave a message on our machine and you know that your child will be absent for longer than one day please leave those details as well so the office can be as accurate as possible. Thanks!

#6 Indoor Shoes and Warmer Clothescolder, wetter weather is approaching. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 may now bring indoor shoes to school. Teachers will be discussing protocols around physical distancing when putting on and removing outdoor footwear. Please remind your child(ren) to dress appropriately for the weather.
