A new weekend program for Indigenous families begins this September. Anishinaabemowin Nanda-gikendan – “Seeking to Learn the Language” – will run on Saturdays from 9-11:30am, from Sept. 18, 2021, to May 28, 2022.

This program will be held online using Zoom, with some Saturdays in person in Brampton. The basics of Anishinaabemowin (Ojibway) language will be taught. Community guests will also join in throughout the year to share various aspects of the Anishinaabek culture, history, stories and more. Hands on activities will also be included.

There is no age limit, families and children of all ages are encouraged to attend. No previous experience with the language is necessary. This program is for Indigenous families in the Upper Grand District School Board and Dufferin Peel Catholic DSB.
