The following board policy currently under review was further revised and released for public consultation. Feedback is welcome on the draft documents until January 14, 2022.

205 – School Volunteers

It is the policy of the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) to encourage and welcome the involvement of community and parent volunteers. School volunteers enhance learning opportunities for students as well as contribute to a positive school climate.

Further updates to the policy and procedures for school volunteers are shown in the draft documents as highlighted text. One of the proposed policy changes is the requirement for all school volunteers to provide a vulnerable sector check from the local police service prior to attending any volunteer activity with the board.

Policy 205 is important to students, parents, staff, school councils, and community members because school volunteers play an important role in maintaining a positive school climate by allowing many aspects of a school’s programming, both curricular and extra-curricular, to continue operating efficiently.

You are invited to review the draft documents and submit online feedback at www.ugdsb.ca/board/policy.  The deadline for public input is January 14, 2022 at 4 pm EST. Persons without internet access may call 519-822-4420 (or toll-free 1-800-321-4025) ext. 723 to request a printed copy of the draft documents.
