Fire Drill – April 25

Posted April 25, 2019

This afternoon the staff and students at Centennial Hylands participated in a fire drill.  Unfortunately, I was unable to turn the bells off after the drill.  Students and staff are not allowed to enter the building when the fire bell is ringing.  The Shelburne Fire Department and the UGDSB technician with responsibilities for the fire panels were called to silence the alarm and reset the system.  They had just arrived as buses were pulling to pick up students.  Students were asked to get on the buses, but they were unable to gather their personal belongings before going home.  Students who needed a house key entered the building with an adult to retrieve their key so that they would be safe once they arrived home.  Parents are able to come to the school tonight until 8:30 to pick up their child’s belongings.  I apologize for any inconvenience.
