Grade 8 Visit Information

From Tuesday November 26th, until Thursday November 28th, College Heights will be hosting Grade 8 visits. Over 1100 students, teachers, and parent supervisors will be coming through to see what College Heights has to offer.  The purpose of our elementary school tours is to exhibit the variety and high quality of ‘hands on’ learning opportunities available to students who attend College Heights.

During these visits, junior students (grades 9 and 10) will be working on course work or other meaningful learning activities such as numeracy, literacy, My Blueprint pathway planning, equity or leadership.  There will be signs on the cafeteria informing students of the new schedule. Some of our students will be supporting the school visits as helpers or tour leaders. These students will receive valuable volunteer hours and leadership experience.  Attendance will still be taken on these days for junior students as well as senior students who are helping. Senior students (grades 11 and 12) who are not helping with grade 8 tours will be provided with assignments that they are able to complete independently either at home or in our library or resource room.

The Grade 8 visits will be running from 9:30 am – 11:30 am and 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm.  As a result, on November 26th- 28th, we will be changing the daily schedule:

Period 1 – 9:10 – 10:15

Period 2 – 10:20 – 11:35

Lunch – 11:35 – 12:30

Period 3 – 12:30 – 1:35

Period 4 – 1:40 – 2:45

Period 5 – 2:45 – 3:25

The days will end early as period 4 ends at 2:45. There will be activities for students throughout the school from 2:45 – 3:25 in the gym, A104, B101 and the library.

Given that the kitchen is involved in the Gr 8 visits, there will be pizza for sale in the cafeteria at lunch time and we won’t be selling any food at break.

Thank you for supporting this important event at our school.
