Children and Youth Course Overview
Art Summer Camp 2018
- Ages 6-9 July 9 – 13 9 – 11:45 am
- Ages 10 – 14 July 9 – 13 12:30 – 3:15 pm
This camp is led by Blanca Canales, a talented and experienced art teacher. She will teach the fundamentals of art from the basics of perspective to the 3-dimensional using different mediums including charcoals and dry pastels. Also planned will be the always popular cartooning, sketching and even some art history. Please bring a nut free snack, a thick coloured & black non-permanent marker, HB pencil and eraser.
Drama Summer Camp 2018
- Ages 7-12 July 3-6 – 9-12 noon
This theatre arts program brings classic children’s stories to life with drama, music and lighthearted fun. Children will write and rehearse an adapted version of The Ugly Duckling (perhaps including some surprise twists!), create their role, make costumes and decorate the set. Participants should bring a water bottle and snack each day. Parents are invited to view a final performance. Instructor Kitty Uhlemann is an elementary school teacher with theatre acting and production experience.
Babysitting Course Ages 11+
This Canadian Red Cross course targets youth aged 11 years of age and up who are planning to start babysitting. Learn basic first aid and how to respond to emergency situations, basic baby and childcare and advice on becoming a responsible babysitter. Develop confidence, create a safe environment and find out tips for getting babysitting jobs. Upon completion of the course, students are given a Red Cross Babysitter’s participatory certificate. Must be 11 years old within 2 months of course date. *Please note Friday are PD days.

Yoga with your child
Yoga – Adult and Youth 7+
Extra classes 3 Weeks-
Mondays June 4- June 18, 5-5:45 pm
Designed for youth ages 7 to 18, accompanied by an adult. This program offers a great opportunity for parents of either gender and their kids to experience age appropriate Hatha Yoga together. Calming breathing practices and partner poses help parents and children strengthen their bond. Yoga poses improve balance, focus and flexibility which can complement and enhance performance in athletics, dance or martial arts. Indoor shoes required.
