Covid Update

Posted December 16, 2021

Dear CMES Parents/Guardians and Staff,

WDG Public Health has notified us that 1 individual in our school have tested positive for COVID-19.  As part of their established infection prevention and control measures, Public Health has directed 1 class to self-isolate.  Please note that due to an increasing number of cases linked to the new Omicron variant, there has been a change in isolation requirements for individuals deemed to be a high-risk contact.  All high-risk contacts are required to isolate for ten days, regardless of vaccination status.

Instructions for household members (i.e. siblings or other persons living in the same household) are also provided in the high-risk contact letter.  Please carefully review the flowchart in Section E, that outlines requirements for household members. If you have additional questions, please visit the “For Schools” section of the WDGPH website: https://wdgpublichealth.ca.  Our building is safe and remains open to staff and students. As always, as part of our enhanced cleaning protocols, custodial staff will ensure a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of affected areas in the school,.

We will continue to work closely with Public Health and take their direction as they complete any further contact tracing, if needed. Where Public Health determines there was a transmission risk to others in the school, they will perform a risk assessment for any contacts. All students and staff determined to be at high risk of exposure will be directed to isolate and recommended to be tested within their isolation period.

So you are aware, the school board is required to post information about positive cases in a school setting on the board website. You can find that link here: https://www.ugdsb.ca/community/coronavirus/2021-22-school-operations/covid-19-advisory-reporting/
