Dear Parent/Guardian/Staff,

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that one individual from Drayton Heights P.S. has tested positive for COVID-19. Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) and the school are taking all necessary steps to prevent the further spread of the virus both in the school and in the community. *

WDG Public Health has notified us that an individual in our school has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, Public Health has directed a class to self-isolate, as part of its established infection prevention and control measures.  Please note a change: Siblings or other children living at the same address as students from this class, will also need to stay home from school for 10 days, unless they are fully vaccinated, or were previously positive (less than 90 days).

If you have questions, please visit the “For Schools” section of the WDGPH website: WDGPH Website.

Our building is safe and remains open to staff and students. As always, custodial staff will ensure thorough cleaning and disinfecting of affected areas in the school, as part of our enhanced cleaning protocol.

We will continue to work closely with Public Health and take their direction as they complete their investigation. Where Public Health determines there was a transmission risk to others in the school, they will perform a risk assessment for any contacts. All students and staff determined to be at high risk of exposure will be directed to isolate and recommended to be tested within their isolation period. Please note that Public Health has different self-isolation requirements for individuals who are vaccinated vs unvaccinated/partially vaccinated.

So you are aware, the school board is required to post information about positive cases in a school setting on the board website. You can find that link here: https://www.ugdsb.ca/community/coronavirus/2021-22-school-operations/covid-19-advisory-reporting/ . The identity of the individual is protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared.

Thank you.

Ms. Spike
Principal
