A BUS PARKING CHANGE

Posted October 2, 2020

Hello everyone

Firstly, thanks very much to everyone for helping make the drop-off and pickup at school process so positive.  It has been appreciated!

We continue to look for the best alternatives to ensure children and adults stay safe.  Starting Monday, the buses will be arriving in a different way.  To see what I am talking about, please look at the attached drawing.

Bus Parking Plan October 2020

Following are the reasons why:

  • We want to eliminate the need for buses to back up. The drivers are very careful, but they are not able to see if there are people very close to the vehicles.
  • We want to create spaces for cars in the lot before snow flies and drifts build up on the Fifth Line. We want everyone to be able to proceed safely to the school.

For now, please continue to park on the Fifth Line and walk in with your children, especially if buses are in the lot.

Starting Monday, October 5th, buses will arrive in the following way in the morning:

  • The 4 spaces at the front of the lot, closest to the Fifth Line will be eliminated (blocked with pylons for now).
  • Buses will drive in a loop around the lot and will stop, one after another.
  • After unloading, the bus will leave, one after another.

Starting Monday, October 5th buses will load in the following way in the afternoon.

  • They will drive in a loop and will stop one after another, as they did in the morning.
  • Students will gather, as they have done and will proceed to their buses when attendance has been taken.
  • Children will continue to wait by the fence to be picked up by parents and guardians. Please do not walk between buses.  Instead go around the back of the line of buses.
  • Once loaded, the buses will leave.

If the plan works well, then the Board will paint extra parking spaces into our lot.  The attached drawing shows the proposed locations.  Then you will be able to pull into the lot, into the allocated spaces and safely bring your children to school or pick them up.

I hope my description covers most areas.  If you have questions, please feel free to email me at [email protected].

All the best,

Paul Tribe, Principal
