COVID-19 Screening

Posted April 29, 2022

Hello everyone;

There have been a few questions about where you might find a list of symptoms for COVID-19 and what steps should be taken.  At this time of year, there are number of ailments being encountered.  We do still have the Public Health protocols for COVID-19 to follow.  One of the easiest ways is to do the daily screening, which will let you know whether or not your child (or in some cases a staff member) should stay home.  I have cut and pasted some information from the Public Health site to assist you.  Below are links to the screening tool and charts to help you.

COVID-19 School and Childcare Screening Tool

Who should complete the daily screening tools? The screening tools should be completed daily by any school-based staff or visitors and all students who are attending school in-person (or by the parent/guardian for each child).

Who does the screening criteria apply to? The screening tools are designed to determine whether staff and students should attend school each day. Individuals who do not work at or attend the school setting are encouraged to follow their individual workplace screening guidelines for COVID-19. Screening staff and students for COVID-19 symptoms and potential exposures every day before attending school is vital to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. All students/parents/guardians and staff should follow the directions provided in the screening tool including when to stay home from school and when it is safe to return to school.

We also have masks available at the school.  We have been encouraging children to wear them, if they wish.  We know it is optional.  In addition we also make regular announcements about good health measures, like using the daily Covid Screening Tool, washing hands and/or using sanitizer on a regular basis.  Lastly, if your child develops symptoms, we are happy to send home rapid testing kits.  If you need a kit, feel free to touch base with us.

Thanks again.  If you have any questions, please call the school at 519-856-9529.

Best regards,
