- Fundraising committee – volunteers for this project are Caroline, Guthrie, Anja, Dan, Stephanie
All committees still need volunteers. Laura will send out council newsletter with this request.
Committees will provide first feedback on planned initiatives before next council meeting in November.
Principal’s Message and Update:
Technology at FAH is outdated; as such, the school has requested support to purchase several new chromebooks (replacing the silver chromebooks), 8 new iPads and 7 data projectors.
Council agreed to make the purchase of new technologies the focus of our fundraising efforts this year.
Budget for the upgrade is $8,200.
Council voted to provide $4,000 upfront to replace some of the chromebooks..
Jane will inform parents about this decision in next newsletter.
Update on EQAO scores:
Our school did extremely well this year in all areas. This was mainly possible because of the hard work and effort of all of our teachers and students. A strong focus on Number Talks in all grades, and a greater focus on Math, including continuously revisiting concepts throughout the year, helped our students to really show what they know. The school staff will be continuing to build on what they learned last year as they work with students this year.
Visualization of fundraising efforts:
Council agreed to make fundraising efforts visible for parents by providing 2 big cardboard “thermometers”.
Guthrie will take the lead on this project and provide these before the Halloween Dance.
The School committed to update parents on every newsletter about our current status and efforts.
Fundraising goal for 2019/2020 school year: $8,200.
Meeting adjourned. Next meeting: November 21, 2019
