Youth Beliefs and Well-Being Study

Researchers at the University of Guelph are conducting a study, and they need your help!

What’s the study about?

We want to learn more about the relations between students’ beliefs, emotions, behaviours, and mental health. We also want to evaluate a new online educational program.

What will I be asked to do?

You’ll be asked to answer questions about how you think about yourself, hypothetical situations, and your mental health. You’ll then complete an online program that aims to help you think flexibly about your abilities. Then in the Winter/Spring of 2020, you will answer questions one more time about how you think about yourself, hypothetical situations, and mental health. The study will take place at your school during school hours. We are only interested in group data and won’t look at your individual results. Your school won’t have access to any of the information we collect.

You can help if:

• You’re a student in Grade 9 or Grade 12

You have permission from your parent/guardian to participate in the study (parents/guardians: click here to provide consent: http://bit.ly/2kuPWn4)
• You speak and understand English

Prize

If you choose to participate, you’ll have a chance to win a $30 Amazon.ca Gift Card or a set of Beats headphones ($129 value)! Your chances of winning a Gift Card are approximately 1 in 50 and 1 in 300 for the headphones.

Interested in helping?

Ask your parent/guardian to complete a consent form online (http://bit.ly/2kuPWn4), or the one in the package sent home with you. If your parent/guardian completes a consent form on paper, bring it back to your homeroom teacher ASAP. We will be sending more information about the study to your teacher and your parent/guardian. If you have any questions, email us at [email protected]
