Outdoor Archway Project

The GCVI Archway took many years to be fully completed and unveiled in December, 2017.  Fundraising started around 2010 and the final installation of the lights that illuminate the arch were installed in the Fall of 2018. If you drive by the school on Paisley Street at night, take a look!
The poppies on this archway are similar to the poppies that were forged locally by Graeme Sheffield and added to a WWI cenotaph installed across from the Flanders Field Museum at the Grote Market in Ypres, Belgium.  The Ypres cenotaph features the evocative image of a single Flanders poppy surrounded by a field of 2,016 steel poppies hand-forged by blacksmiths and farriers worldwide which pay homage to all those who gave their lives and all those who were affected by the war.
