Dear parents/guardians and staff,

This letter is a follow up to the one you received yesterday relating a Public Health notification that an individual in our school has tested positive for COVID-19. Upon further contact tracing, Public Health has directed one class to self-isolate, as part of its established infection prevention and control measures.

The letter we shared with all families from Public Health on December 10th, explains what the health unit and school are doing to prevent further spread of the virus in the school and the community.

Our building is safe and remains open to staff and students. Custodial staff have completed a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the school, as part of our enhanced cleaning protocol. We will continue to work closely with Public Health and take their direction as they complete their investigation.

Where Public Health determines there was a transmission risk to others in the school, they will perform a risk assessment for any contacts. All students and staff determined to be at high risk of exposure will be directed to isolate and recommended to be tested within their isolation period.

So you are aware, the school board is required to post information about positive cases in a school setting on the board website. You can find that link here: https://www.ugdsb.ca/community/coronavirus/reopening-schools-plan/covid-19- advisory-reporting/.

The identity of the individual is protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared.

If you have questions, please contact Public Health at 519-822-2715 ext. 7006.

Thank you,

Tim Murray
Principal
