Arrival and Dismissal Protocol

Posted September 5, 2020

Arrival and Dismissal will look different this year in order to keep students and family members safe. It is important that students arrive as close to the bell as possible as free play will not be allowed in the morning or after school. School playgrounds and sand boxes are off bounds. We have changed our duty time to begin at 8:50. When students arrive they will need to wait in their line until the bell rings. Kindergarten students will have dots on the tarmac to stand/sit on. Grades 1-8 students will have a white or orange line as well as yellow markers to indicate 2 m spacing. On the map below, you will notice proposed areas for parents to pick up and drop off their children from kindergarten to grade 3. This is to allow for social distancing among adults. The parking lot is to be used by staff only and as a Kiss n Ride. Do not park your car in the Kiss n Ride as this blocks the flow of traffic making the parking lot very dangerous.

Please arrange an alternate drop off and pick up spot for older students off the school grounds. (See parking map below) At dismissal students will be led outside to their line and dismissed from their line when the bell rings or for younger students when a teacher acknowledges a parent/guardian.

Entering the school to pick up your child is not an option. Calling the office to have your child ready to leave between 3:10 and 3:30 to beat the congestion is not an option. We need to all work together to make this process successful. We have reviewed and practiced our protocols and may make adjustments in the first month. We are excited to have students back in our building and committed to ensuring their safety. We need your help to help ensure a safe return:) Help us to model mask wearing and social distancing on the school grounds. ~ Mme Hamilton
