Hyland Heights New for March 26th

Posted March 26, 2021

Good evening Parents & Guardians,

We have had another good week here at Hyland Heights. Everyone looked great in purple today as we recognized and raised awareness about Epilepsy. Earlier this week, we were treated to some really wacky socks as we recognized World Down Syndrome Day.

Our spirit days continue throughout the month of April:

Thursday April 1- Wear Blue in support of World Autism Day

Friday April 9- Mismatched Day, wear strange patterns together, or mismatched socks!

Friday April 23- Hawks Wear Day

Friday April 30- PJ Day/Comfy Cozy Day

Please continue to check our school website for other updates. We also post to the UG Connect App and Twitter.

A few reminders as we head into the weekend:

-There are no dogs on school property, no matter the size of the dog. We love furry friends, but for the safety of all kids and staff they cannot be on property. Thanks for your cooperation.

-Please remember that all UG playgrounds are closed at this time. Children are not allowed on the structures before, during, or after the school day due to COVID safety protocols.

-If your children do need to be sent home due to COVID protocols please have a plan in place for quick pick up. Children do need to remain in our isolation room while awaiting pick up. If one child from your family is showing symptoms, their siblings must also be sent home according to Public Health. Please also remember that our school staff must follow the directions of Public Health and that we are doing our best. We recognize that this can be stressful for families as well.

-Each child and staff member must complete the self-screening tool that is posted on our school website. Please do not send your child to school if they do not pass the screening and follow the advice that is given when you receive your child’s self-screening results.

-On the advice of Public Health we are asking all parents and caregivers to wear a mask while on school property. Social distancing can be  difficult to maintain on the back tarmac as our tarmac space is limited and the movement of children can sometimes be unpredictable. Please help us keep everyone feeling comfortable and safe.

-Please remember to bring water to school to drink. Our water fountains are closed due to COVID protocols, but our water bottle refilling stations are open.

Take care and have a great weekend. A reminder that next Friday, April 2nd and Monday, April 5th there is no school due to the Easter holiday.
