News From Hyland Heights for September 10th

Posted September 10, 2021

Good evening,

It was a great week here at Hyland. We were happy to welcome our new and returning Hawks back to school.

We have a few reminders for next week:

  • If your child is late in the morning, they must go to the front doors. We need to have students using the correct entrances, so that we can maintain cohorting. Thank you for your help with this.
  • School picture day is September 22nd. More information to come.
  • If your child is not taking the bus, you need to call the office before 230pm. Safety is our number one concern, and we want to make sure that all children are accounted for and arrive safely.
  • We have children in our school with potentially life-threatening (allergy/allergies) to peanuts, shellfish, fish, seafood, tapioca, kiwi, all nuts and tree nuts called anaphylaxis (ana-fill-axis). Although this may not affect your child’s class directly, we are letting you know so that you refrain from sending foods to school that contain peanuts, shellfish, fish, seafood, tapioca, kiwi, all nuts and tree nuts  as well as other potential allergens. We aim to create an allergy-safe environment at Hyland Heights ES.
  • Please remember to use the school Kiss N’ Ride pick-up and drop off.  Please see the map below and follow the signs/markings when you arrive in the morning and end of day.  The front of the school will be for buses only. Our school parking lot is closed at 830am and again at 245pm for buses. Please do not enter the school parking lot at these times.
  • If your child has a plan of care for a medical condition, please return the paperwork that was mailed to you at the end of June. It is critical that we have the most up to date medical information about your child. If your child requires an epi pen or other medication, please ensure that this is dropped off at the office as soon as possible. If you need a new copy of the paperwork, please call the office and we will be sure to send it home.
  • Please do not have your children arrive before 835am in the morning. The yard will not be supervised before 835am.
  • Please return all school chrome books that were used for remote learning last year. We are missing some and want to use the computers with our kids as soon as possible.

Thanks again for a terrific start to the 21/22 school year. We hope all of our families have a restful weekend. Please see below for a message from UGDSB about school reorganizations.

of changing the school organization that is set by the District Staffing

Committee of the Board. If changes affect your child(ren), you will be

informed by the school.
