Hyland Heights News for June 24th

Posted June 23, 2022

Good morning Hawk Families,

It’s been another busy, but fantastic week at Hyland Heights. Our virtual Black Brilliance assembly was well done. We not only learned, but we celebrated Black Brilliance.  We thank the club members for all of their hard work. Our kindergartens celebrated moving into grade one, and our grade 8 grad rehearsals are going well.  We are excited for our grade eights who will graduate next week. It should be a great ceremony! Please check out our Twitter @Hyland Hawks or our school website https://www.ugdsb.ca/hylandheights/  for more exciting news.

Please return any school materials such as school library books and book bags. They are overdue. A reminder that we have our lost and found items displayed in our front foyer. Please stop by and have a look early this morning. Any unclaimed items will be donated today.

The UGDSB is continuing to use the online report card system for the 2021-22 school year. If you previously accessed our Electronic Report Card system this year, no action is required at this time. If your email address has changed, or you are new to our school board, please contact your school office coordinator. Please visit our board website at www.ugdsb.ca for more information related to online report cards. Elementary report cards are  available for parents to download from the Parent Portal now.  IEPs were sent home on the 23rd of June.  Please call the office if you have any questions or need help.

The Upper Grand District School Board is pleased to share a wide range of summer learning opportunities for students. You can learn more here: http://ow.ly/PNT250JG8fY.

Hyland Heights is scheduled to have a permanent addition built that will be replacing our current portapac.  Construction will begin on July 4th and continue during the 2022/23 school year.  Certain classrooms and areas on our tarmac will unfortunately not be accessible for the school year.  Additional portables will be placed to accommodate our needs. We ask that you have a conversation with your child to avoid playing on Hyland property, as we head into the summer, as there will be heavy machinery moving in and out of the school.  We want to make sure our students have a safe and enjoyable summer. As we prepare for construction to start, all belongings will need to go home on the last day of school on June 29th. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we head into the 2022/23 school year.

We still need Lunchroom Supervisors at Hyland. And just a final reminder that students and their families should still be using the Ontario School Screening Tool before coming to school each day, it is continuously being updated by the Province, Ministry and Public Health  https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/

Rapid Antigen Test kits (RATs) for Covid continue to be available if families need them. We have them at our front entrance for your convenience.
