ILPS Info for Sept 2019

Posted July 2, 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have had a very successful end to the 2018-2019 school year.  This year has seen much happening here on the Island!  We are very proud of our Ospreys and wish them all a safe and happy summer.

We are looking forward to September and would like to prepare parents and guardians for the possibility that classroom reorganization may occur in September, prompted by Ministry-mandated caps on primary class sizes and late-August registrations. Student placements in all classes are tentative during the first two weeks of school. To meet Ministry guidelines pertaining to fixed class sizes, all schools in the Board will be reviewed by a central committee and decisions regarding specific class sizes will be made.

All students will be informed of their class placement on the first day of school in Sept.  They are to report to their OLD classroom on the first morning.  All new students to ILPS are to report to the LLC (Library Learning Commons).  Please be prepared for changes to be made to your child’s initial class placement if reorganization is deemed necessary by the Board District Staffing Committee.  Staff will meet to discuss placement based on academic needs.  We will be sending out communication in September.  Please be aware that, due to the short turnaround time, we are not able to take parent requests for placement.

Thank you all for your support of the school and the staff.

Sincerely,

Sean Singh

Principal
