Deck the Halls

Posted November 4, 2019

Hello Families,

We are happy to announce that ILPS’s much anticipated annual Deck the Halls event is happening this year on Wednesday December 4th from 6-8pm.

The planning committee is excited about all that we have in store for our families this year.  We will have favourites such as photos with Santa and crafts for the kids. We are also bringing back some activities that we have done in the past, like the raffle, bake sale and Santa’s Workshop kids only shopping area.  More details about all of these activities will come in the next few weeks.

Right now, we are asking for your help in pulling together the items needed to make this year’s event a success.  We have a few requests, but we certainly don’t expect everyone to help in all areas.  Please only help where you feel comfortable.  The following are activities that we are asking our community for help with.

Santa’s Workshop Kids Shopping Area

We are asking families to donate NEW or very gently pre-loved items for our kids shopping area.  This area will be a place for kids to shop for their family members.  Each class has been given a specific family member to bring in donations for.  Please see the attached document to know what your child’s class has been assigned.  We are asking that donations be brought to the school and placed in the collection box in each classroom no later than November 28th.  We would also be very grateful for donations of gift wrapping paper.

Raffle

We will be having a small raffle again this year.  We would appreciate any parent that has a business and/or is open to donating an item towards our raffle to help us out.  We would gladly post who the donated items are from.  Please contact Council to arrange for donations to be accepted, no later than November 28th.

Bake Sale

We will be holding a bake sale at this year’s event, with all proceeds going to the Orangeville Food Bank.  We would love to have families donate nut free baked goods for our sale.  If you wish to donate, please bring your treats, already packaged, to the school between December 2nd and December 4th.

We thank our entire Island Lake community for all that they do to help support council in the events and initiatives we do throughout the year.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Council Chair, Tania Rooney at [email protected].

If you are not already a member of our Facebook page, please search for us at Island Lake Parent Council Info Page or follow this link to join.  It is a great way to stay up to date on all School Council events. https://www.facebook.com/groups/850984621703765/?ref=bookmarks
