James McQueen School Reorganization

Posted September 16, 2021

Dear Families,
In order to meet Ministry of Education class cap restrictions, Boards of Education are required to review and adjust class sizes every September. This is something that is determined by the Board Staffing committee. Principals and teachers have no option but to follow the directive sent to the school by the staffing committee and must adhere to exact class numbers and organization that is sent.
This year, we will be reorganizing with addition of two new classes and changes in numbers to others.
Teachers and administration have met as a team to create the new classes, following the same process that is used to form classes in June (keeping students with friends, creating a balance of learning styles, strengths, and areas of growth etc). This is a challenging process that our staff take very seriously and reflect deeply on. As this process does happen every year, it has been my experience that children adapt very, very quickly and will continue to enjoy their new classmates and playing with all of their friends at recess.
Phone calls will be made today to notify families of student moves. If you do not receive a call by the end of the day, your child will remain in the class they are currently in. Students who are being moved will meet their new teacher and see their new classroom tomorrow. Students will start in new classes on Monday, September 20th.
We understand this is a disruptive time for all involved and we thank you in advance for your support with these changes.
Yours truly,
Mr. Creighton
