Me To We Supports – Adopt-A-Family

Posted November 28, 2019

Me to We is a group of students who join together in order to give back to the community. Each Thursday at second break, Me to We sells cookies and popcorn, sold for 1$ each. The money that Me to We raises is donated to organizations that give back to the community, making differences in day-to-day life for many people. Every few months the students in Me to We decide as a group where they wish to send the money. Some previous organizations our group has donated to include: The Center Wellington Food Bank, Guelph Humane Society and We Walk for Water.

Recently we have decided that our money raised between October to December will be donated to The Adopt-a-Family foundation. Adopt-a-Family is an organization that gives the opportunity to those who want to give back to the community and help families have a better Christmas. It is a great way to help families have a better holiday season, no matter what holiday they celebrate. It can be lots of pressure for families who have trouble providing food (let alone gifts), during this time so this helps make them take some weight off their shoulders and be able to provide a good holiday season for their family. A family is referred to the program to be ‘adopted’ and then they are matched with a family or organization who will ‘adopt’ that family by providing gifts for them at Christmas. Funds raised at our school will be used to purchase gift cards to grocery stores for families in need of a little help during the holiday season. This will help make their holiday a whole lot better.
