Books and Ball Hockey Reading Program – Grade 3-8

Posted April 6, 2022

JD Hogarth is offering an incentive to students in grade 3-8 to encourage reading. For the next four weeks (April 11th-May 6th, Monday to Thursday from 8:30-8:50 in the Learning Commons, or at home if you are a bus student and don’t arrive at the school at 8:30) if your child reads for a minimum of 20 minutes, three times a week, they will be invited to a half day of ball hockey at the Fergus Sportsplex on a date to be determined in May. Walking students are to line up at the entrance by the Kindergarten doors at 8:30 and wait for a teacher to let them in. Bus students arriving between 8:30-8:50 should come in the front entrance of the school and proceed directly to the Learning Commons. Requirements for the ball hockey field trip are: CSA approved hockey helmet with cage/visor, hockey gloves, and a plastic/composite stick. Please complete and sign the reading log below each time your child reads for a minimum of 20 minutes per day. Please note that this reading is in addition to any reading or homework that your child has already been assigned in class.

We are very excited about this fantastic opportunity and look forward to working with you over the next month to help your child achieve their reading goal. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Marson.

Thank you,

M. Marson and J. Lindsay
