EJPS Week at a Glance (Nov 7 – Nov 11)

Chers parents,

This past Monday, our staff and students had an enjoyable and creative day of Halloween/ Black & Orange Day celebrations. Lots of games, activities, and treats were enjoyed by all. Speaking of treats, please consider monitoring how many Halloween sweets and treats may be coming to school in your child’s lunch box with or without your knowledge. Through anecdotal observations, we see a correlation between a decrease in focus, mood, and overall well-being when students are overindulging in tempting Halloween treats. Every child is different and you know your child best. With that said, please speak to them about their responsibility toward their learning and how their nutritional choices impact their schooling.

Next week and in the new year we have some staffing changes occurring that I wanted to share with you. First, Mme Robbins will be starting her leave on Monday and LTO, Monsieur Teasdale, will be stepping in to replace her as a Kindergarten and Primary Planning teacher. Secondly, Mme Wadleigh is returning back from her leave to the Kindergarten classroom on Monday as the teacher for KB. We are thankful to LTOs Mme Shirton-Smith and Monsieur Teasdale who supported KB for their first two months of school. Third, Mme Hill (Grade 6A) will start her leave in the new year. Mme Smith, who is currently an LTO at École King George, will be taking over for Mme Hill. We are fortunate to have two highly recommended and respected LTOs join our staff this year!

In other news, EJPS needs your help in two areas:

  1. Last week, we sent out a logo design survey out to the school community to help narrow down to 3 final designs.  We only had 40 responses. We need more input to capture the voice of our parent community. The top 3 designs will be shared with a professional designer.  Elements of the final designs will be incorporated into our new school logo. If you haven’t already, please review the 5 designs in the google form below and  CHOOSE THE 3 DESIGNS that you like the best by FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11th. https://forms.gle/1m2k4GMdPDx1Pbxg8
  2. EJPS will be in need of a new paid noon hour supervisor to help keep our students safe at lunch and nutrition breaks (10:30 AM – 11:10 AM & 12:40 PM – 1:20 PM). The position will start at the beginning of December. We also need a back up emergency fill-in paid noon hour supervisor to support our team if someone needs to be away. If you are interested in either of these positions you will need a vulnerable sector police check before starting. If interested please contact me directly at [email protected] or come see me in person.

Next Friday, we are looking forward to the Remembrance Day Service that will be held in our Gym and led by Mme Roberts and her Grade 5\6 class.
