EJPS Week at a Glance (Nov 21 – Nov 25)

Chers parents,

Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation during these times of uncertainty. Please continue to pay attention to the school board’s labour updates at https://www.ugdsb.ca/board/labour-updates-2022-23/ . This is the basic contingency plan for our school.

  • In-person learning Monday Nov. 21, Tuesday Nov. 22, and Wednesday Nov. 23.
  • Switch to remote learning for Thursday Nov. 24.
  • PA Day on Friday Nov. 25 – no school for students

Hopefully, we will not have to follow this contingency plan and in-person learning will continue as usual next week. However, should the situation with CUPE move to a strike then we as a school will communicate our school-based plans as soon as possible about getting prepared to pivot to remote learning (i.e. distribution of technology to families in need) or to pivot our in-person parent-teacher conferences to online remote interviews. Regardless, we fully appreciate the challenges this uncertainty places on families.

In other news, we will have an Anti-Bullying Awareness and Prevention Assembly on Monday morning at 9AM. All week we will have announcements and classroom activities building our capacity to reduce bullying behaviour in our schools. Students can wear pink all week but Thursday will be our culminating Pink Day celebration recognizing all the things we have done and will continue to do to “Stand Up, Stand Strong, and Stand Together” to stop bullying behaviour. It’s also worth noting the update of the “Bullying Reporting Tool” button found on all UGDSB school websites. It is a pink box located on the right side of our home page and is entitled “Report Identity-Based Harm and/or Bullying”. Fact: IN THE MAJORITY OF CASES, BULLYING STOPS WITHIN 10 SECONDS WHEN PEERS INTERVENE, OR DO NOT SUPPORT THE BULLYING BEHAVIOUR.
