EJPS Week at a Glance (Jan 23 – 27)

Chers parents,

It’s hard to believe that the end of January is already here! This week will be a short one as we have a PA Day on Friday, January 27th. Staff will be working on assessments and reporting in preparation for the Term 1 report cards. January 27th is also Family Literacy Day. This year’s theme is “Celebrate your Heritage!”. Here is some information from their website:

“Family Literacy Day takes place every January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. Since 1999, thousands of schools, libraries, literacy organizations and other community groups have taken part in the initiative. ABC creates free learning and promotional resources for anyone that wants to get involved. Taking time every day to read or do a learning activity with children is crucial to a child’s development, improving a child’s literacy skills dramatically, and can help a parent improve their skills as well.”

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS:The City is experiencing a shortage of crossing guards and are currently struggling to cover all locations. They are doing their best to fill these gaps; however, the program may have unforeseen vacancies due to guards calling in for same-day coverage. The priority is to cover the no-control intersections first. Control locations include intersections with traffic signals, intersection pedestrian signals (IPS) and all-way stops.  We will cover these locations if we can.  The City’s website has some helpful tips for crossing at traffic signals.  Following is the internal listing of all locations, noting those with no-control and control intersections. 2023 January 16 ASCG listing

Lastly, this Tuesday, January 24th we will be having our EJPS School Council from 6:30 – 7:30PM in the library. Please come out or join us online to learn more about the school and how you can get involved. The agenda will be available shortly on our website.

Here is a message from the EJ School Council:

The students that missed out on Pizza Day yesterday will be receiving their pizza order on Monday. As shared on Dec 16th in the Parent Weekly, if there is a bus cancellation day or a school closure on Pizza Day, ALL pizza orders will be fulfilled on the following Monday.

**Also, the school will do its best to remind parents the night before or by 7:30 AM the morning of when Pizza Day is in jeopardy due to inclement weather. We apologize for the delayed timing in our messaging this past Thursday.
